Welcome to the new Curiad Website

CURIAD was formed in 1992 with the aim of establishing a new music publisher that would promote new works by composers from Wales and elsewhere. CURIAD is now Wales' foremost publisher of music, publishing an array of works by a wide variety of composers each year. As well as promoting new music by contemporary composers, we also publish new editions of works from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. Our catalogue also contains a number of books on music, song books and educational resources.

The CURIAD offices are located in Talysarn, near Caernarfon in Gwynedd, Wales. Talysarn lies in the Nantlle Valley - a slate quarrying area of Snowdonia. This famous mountain range can be seen from our high street and the golden beaches of the Llyn peninsula are not far away. This historical area is the home for CURIAD and its activities. The name CURIAD is, in fact, the Welsh language term for 'beat' - that rhythmic pulse which is at the heart of all music.

Publishing music

There are many stages in the process of publishing and promoting new works. Having decided on the work to be published, our typesetting team then undertake to set the work using the latest software and equipment. We use the 'SIBELIUS' and 'SAGE' programmes to typeset music and we can honestly say that the quality of the notation it produces is second to none. Having completed the setting of the music, we then transfer the work to be published by local printers, using one, two or four colour process, depending on the nature of the publication. Our emphasis is always on quality - both in terms of content and design.

Our publications are performed throughout the world by amateur and professional musicians in local village halls and in the largest of auditorium. Music knows no boundaries - the world is our audience.
